Service Terms

The service

U.S. Climate Data provides authenticated access to historical U.S. climate information through its API. The documentation, pricing page, and plan limits describe the features available with each plan. Coverage and available variables can differ by station and endpoint.

The service supplies climate information, not forecasts, emergency warnings, engineering advice, or a guarantee that data is complete or suitable for a particular decision.

Accounts and API keys

You must provide accurate account information, keep your credentials and API keys confidential, and use the service only within your plan limits. If you use the service for an organization, you confirm that you may accept these terms for that organization.

Free Plan

The Free Plan currently includes 1,000 requests per month and 10 requests per minute. It is limited to the endpoints and response fields identified for Free access in the documentation. Requests above the quota or rate limit, or to an unavailable resource, are declined by the API. Unused requests do not carry over to a later month.

The Free Plan does not include a service-level commitment or paid support. We may change its limits, available features, or availability, or discontinue it, when reasonably necessary for security, capacity, legal, product, or business reasons. Where practical, the current limits will be shown on the pricing page and in the documentation.

Subscriptions and billing

Paid subscriptions are sold and billed by Polar, which acts as merchant of record and reseller for the transaction. Prices are in U.S. dollars and exclude applicable taxes. Polar calculates applicable taxes and shows the final amount before you place an order.

Paid subscriptions renew automatically until canceled. You can open Manage billing from your account to manage a paid subscription. Cancellation prevents the next renewal and normally keeps access until the end of the current paid period.

Responsible use and availability

Neither the Free Plan nor a paid plan includes a service-level agreement, uptime guarantee, or fixed support response time unless we separately agree to one in writing. You must follow the Acceptable Use Policy. We may limit, suspend, or end access where needed to protect the service, comply with law, address nonpayment, or stop misuse. We may update the service, data sources, or documentation as the product evolves.
