How U.S. Climate Data uses information needed to operate the API and your account.

Information we process
We process the account information you provide, such as your name and email address, and the information needed to authenticate and secure your account. To operate and protect the API, request logs may include the API key record, IP address, request method and URL, query parameters, response status, duration, and error details.
Why we use it
We use this information to provide the account and API, apply plan limits, investigate errors and abuse, communicate about the service, and maintain security and operational records. API request logs are retained for 30 days and then automatically deleted. Account, contact, and billing records are retained while reasonably needed for those purposes and applicable legal obligations.
Signing in with a third-party account
You may create or sign in to your account using GitHub, Google, or LinkedIn instead of a password. When you do, the provider shares your name, email address, and a unique account identifier with us, which we store to create and authenticate your account. We do not receive your password or other data from these providers. This information is retained for as long as your account exists. You can request its removal at any time by deleting your account from your account settings or by using the contact form below.
Payments
Polar processes checkout and billing as merchant of record. We do not receive your full payment-card details. Polar's handling of checkout information is governed by the Polar Privacy Policy.
Cookies and choices
The sites use essential session and security cookies. A theme preference cookie may be shared across U.S. Climate Data subdomains so your selected appearance is remembered. We do not use the API request data described above for behavioral advertising.
Analytics
Our marketing pages use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see aggregate traffic, such as which pages are visited and how often. This does not run on the API or the documentation pages. Cloudflare Web Analytics does not use cookies or any other client-side storage to identify you, and does not track you across other websites. See the Cloudflare Privacy Policy for details.
